Start with the names. The central sequence is Via Benedetto Croce and Via San Biagio dei Librai; westward, the route is commonly extended through Via Pasquale Scura.

Read the crossings. Look for the north-south streets that cut across the decumanus. Their repeated junctions make the ancient grid more intelligible than the popular nickname alone.

Pair monuments with ordinary frontage. Churches and palazzi share the corridor with workshops, cafés and residences. The contrast is part of the historic centre’s continuing use.

Change altitude for the line. A viewpoint toward the centre helps show why the street appears to split Naples, while the walk explains how many smaller streets and buildings compose it.
