Verificato su Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali — The Area Sacra di Largo Argentina contains four temples of the Republican age, conventionally indicated by the first letters of the alphabet in the absence of a certain identification, Temple C at Largo Argentina is the earliest of the four, dating to the early 3rd century BCE, built on the original ground level of earth and gravel, and is proposed as a temple of the goddess Feronia, Temple B at Largo Argentina dates to the late 2nd century BCE and is proposed as the temple of Fortuna huiusce diei, A fire under the emperor Domitian in 80 CE brought a wholesale reconstruction of the Area Sacra di Largo Argentina, with travertine paving and rebuilt porticoes, From the 5th century the Area Sacra di Largo Argentina was transformed with structures possibly monastic and later aristocratic housing, and by the 12th century a church dedicated to San Nicola stood within Temple A, whose Romanesque apse decoration survives (ottobre 2026).
