Madurai Events

Chithirai Festival: expect Madurai's major annual religious season to bring temple rites, public processions, road closures and changed access. Check the current religious calendar and crowd-control plan before travelling.

Float festival: verify the current programme through the temple or district authority because calendrical dates and access arrangements vary.

Navaratri and other temple festivals: expect decoration, worship and visitor pressure to alter ordinary opening patterns. Treat each festival first as a religious event.

Pongal: confirm transport and institutional closures during the Tamil harvest period.

Keep processional routes clear, follow police directions and avoid publishing close images of worshippers without permission.
