Juhu Beach site features

The beach extends about five kilometres along the Arabian Sea, creating a low, open horizon against the dense western suburbs.

At lower crowd levels, the eye follows a wide band of wet sand, breaking water and a landward row of access points and buildings. In the evening, people and food stalls become the dominant foreground.

The beach has no single architectural centre. Its scale is experienced by walking a section and noticing how quickly one local entrance gives way to another neighbourhood edge.

The five-kilometre shore

Natural coast with modern urban management. A long public strand provides Mumbai's western horizon.

Neighbourhood access points

20th century to present. Separate streets and bus connections divide the beach into locally used sections.

Food-vendor zones

Long-established public use. Informal food is part of the evening experience; hygiene and waste practices vary by stall.

Juhu aviation edge

1929 onward. The aerodrome behind the shore adds a rare transport landscape to the beach setting.
