Best destinations by month

November through February gives the broadest walking conditions. IMD's 1991–2020 Mysore station normals place mean daytime maxima between about 28.3°C and 31.4°C, with very little normal rain in January and February. Weekends and year-end holidays still bring strong demand.

March is dry but warmer, with a normal mean maximum of 33.6°C. Early outdoor starts become more useful.

April and May are the warmest and bring pre-monsoon thunderstorms. April's normal mean maximum is 34.3°C; rain rises sharply in both months. Build in shade and indoor breaks.

June through September is cooler, cloudier and intermittently wet. Rain does not normally fall all day, but downpours, slick steps and traffic disruption can reshape a hill or lake plan.

October has the highest normal monthly rainfall and often hosts Dasara. Festival dates follow the ritual calendar and can also fall partly in September, so use the official programme rather than a fixed annual assumption.
