1544: the castle comes down. The castle of La Morra was demolished. The square it stood on keeps its name — Piazza Castello — and that name is now the most substantial thing left of it.

1710: the tower goes up. The torre campanaria was built with the remains of the castle. The stone did not leave the site; it changed job, from fortification to bell tower, after a hundred and sixty-six years.

1914. The elementary school was built, closing one side of the square.

1972. Antonio Munciguerra's bronze monument to the Vignaiolo d'Italia was set up a few steps from the tower — a monument to the winegrower, on the terrace that overlooks the vineyards.

22 June 2014. The Langhe were inscribed by UNESCO within the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, in three components, of which the Langa of Barolo — the landscape this square looks at — is one.

December 2018: the bronze is stolen. The Vignaiolo d'Italia was trafugato during works to remake the square in front of it. It had stood for forty-six years.
