Begin with the Qutb Shahi sequence. Golconda Fort occupies a granite hill and a broad fortified lower city; nearby Qutb Shahi Tombs form a royal necropolis set within a restored landscape. They belong in one geographic block, but each needs enough time to understand rather than photograph quickly.
The Old City centres on Charminar, the four axial streets and Laad Bazaar. Mecca Masjid and other active religious sites require attentive conduct. Reach the precinct early for architectural clarity or later for market life, accepting that the two experiences are different.
Along the Musi, Salar Jung Museum provides the major indoor collection. Chowmahalla Palace and the Purani Haveli area explain later court life, while the High Court, Osmania General Hospital exterior and other civic buildings show the institutional city shaped under the Nizams. Access and restoration conditions can change.
North of the Musi, Hussain Sagar, museums, cultural institutions and Secunderabad reveal another urban axis. Farther west, KBR National Park, surviving granite formations and the technology districts show that modern Hyderabad cannot be understood from the Old City alone.
