Getting Around
High-speed rail connects the province densely: Jinan to Qingdao in about two hours, Beijing to Jinan in an hour and a half, and Qufu and Taian both sit on the Beijing-Shanghai line, which makes them easy stops.
Getting in: Qingdao and Jinan have international airports, and the province is an easy high-speed rail hop from Beijing or Shanghai.
Metros operate in Qingdao and Jinan.
Mount Tai: high-speed rail to Taian, then a bus to the trailhead or the halfway point. Allow a full day, or overnight at the summit for the sunrise.
Qufu: the high-speed station is a short bus ride from the old town; everything there is walkable.
Practical: a Chinese payment app is close to essential.
