Ottawa's main attractions form a walkable central chain but require different kinds of time. Parliament Hill, the Ottawa Locks, Sparks Street and the National War Memorial belong to one civic landscape. Centre Block is closed for rehabilitation, so current Parliament experiences use West Block, the Senate of Canada Building and a separate immersive presentation.
East of the Hill, Major's Hill Park, ByWard Market and the National Gallery of Canada fit together. Westward, the Canadian War Museum anchors LeBreton Flats and the river path. Across the river in Gatineau, the attraction listed on this site under its former name is now the Canadian Museum of History. Treat it as a cross-river outing, not an Ottawa-side building.
Several other national museums lie outside the core. Choose by subject and check the actual location before assuming they can be added to a central walking day.
