Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: flip this switch on and Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- turn it off again any time, or reveal the real photo for just one place at a time from its own page.

Constantine

Learn about Constantine

A concise introduction to Constantine, its geography, history and culture.

Introduction

Changed

Constantine is one of the major cities of the East of Algeria, not too far from the Tunisian border. The setting of the city is striking: a deep gorge protects the city on almost all sides.

The gorge can be crossed by one out of four bridges that make it possible to travel from the center to the outskirts of the city and vice versa. This is why it is also known as "the city of bridges".

The spectacular setting of the city is the main sightseeing attraction. Besides that, there are a few museums, but the most enjoyable thing to do is to walk around and chat with local people.
