How to Get Around Akron
Getting Around
A car is necessary. Akron is spread out and the national park has no public transport into it.
Parking is easy and cheap or free almost everywhere.
METRO buses cover the city and connect to the university and the hospitals.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs the length of the park and operates a bike aboard service — ride the towpath one way and take the train back, which is the best way to see the valley.
Cycling: the Ohio and Erie Canal towpath is flat, unpaved and continuous for well over 150 kilometres.
Walking works in downtown and Highland Square individually.
Cleveland airport is about 45 minutes north and is the usual arrival point.
