Ecuador Climate Patterns

Changed

Ecuador's position on the equator means temperature depends far more on elevation than season -- the Andean highlands, including Quito, stay mild and spring-like year-round, while the coast and Amazon stay consistently hot and humid regardless of month.

The coast has a wetter, hotter season (December-May) and a cooler, drier one (June-November) driven by ocean currents, while the Amazon sees rain nearly year-round with only modest seasonal variation in intensity.

The Galápagos Islands follow their own distinct pattern shaped by ocean currents rather than latitude -- a warm, wet season and a cooler, drier season with rougher seas, each favoring different wildlife-viewing opportunities and diving conditions.
