How to get around Finale Ligure
Getting around
The comune is three built-up areas and a scatter of hill frazioni, so distances are real. Finalmarina is the seafront, Finalpia the coast to the east of it, and Finalborgo lies inland — about a kilometre and a half from the beach.
There is a train and there is a bus, and one source publishes both. Finale Ligure Marina station is on the Genoa–Ventimiglia line, about 1.6 km from Finalborgo. TPL Linea buses 40 and 40/ (Savona–Finalborgo) run from the station or the seafront up to Finalborgo; the stop is Finalborgo Centro. By car the A10 exit is Finale Ligure. All of this is published by the Museo Archeologico del Finale — not by the comune, which publishes no timetable, no parking scheme and no ZTL.
Finalborgo is a walled borgo and driving into it is restricted. There are paid and disc-timed car parks immediately outside the walls, and a free car park at the Municipio with spaces for disabled drivers.
Varigotti is the outlier. The frazione sits further off, towards Noli, and has its own page here. The inland frazioni — Olle, Gorra, Perti, Monticello, San Bernardino, Calvisio and Verzi — are hill villages behind the coast, with the altopiano delle Mànie rising behind them.
The comune is at Via Pertica 29. Comune di Finale Ligure, Via Pertica 29, 17024 Finale Ligure, switchboard 019 689011.

Connections from Finale Ligure
How easily, and at what cost, can you combine the region’s main destinations?
| Route | Best option | One-way time | Travel Smart take |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finale Ligure and Alassio | Traininexpensive | ~20–26 min scheduled service | Comfortable as a day trip. Finale Ligure is a workable base for Alassio. |
| Finale Ligure and Finalborgo | Businexpensive | ~5 min by road | Excellent day-trip connection. Finale Ligure works well as a base for Finalborgo. |
| Finale Ligure and Genoa | Traininexpensive | ~43–48 min scheduled service | Possible in a day, but it takes most of one. |
| Finale Ligure and Noli | Businexpensive | ~10 min by road | Excellent day-trip connection. Finale Ligure works well as a base for Noli. |
| Finale Ligure and Varigotti | Businexpensive | ~5 min by road | Excellent day-trip connection. Finale Ligure works well as a base for Varigotti. |
Cost compares the options for each route rather than quoting a fare: inexpensive means the price is not a factor in planning, moderate cost means a real line in the budget, and the expensive option is one worth weighing against the alternative. Fares change from year to year; the ranking between them does not.
Two freephone lines are published and they are worth having. For water-main or sewer faults, 800 995105; for ordinary maintenance of lighting, asphalt and urban greenery, 800 991952. The comune publishes these and no others.
No individual office publishes a direct line or opening hours. The municipal site lists its offices, including the police units, and gives a single switchboard — 019 689011 — and the certified address comunefinaleligure@legalmail.it. No tourist office is published by the comune at all.
The transport detail comes from the museum, not the town hall. Finale Ligure Marina station, on the Genoa–Ventimiglia line, is about 1.6 km from Finalborgo; TPL Linea buses 40 and 40/ run Savona–Finalborgo, stopping at Finalborgo Centro 200 m from the Chiostri di Santa Caterina; the A10 exit is Finale Ligure, signed on for "Finalborgo" and "Centro Storico". Car access inside the borgo's walls is restricted, with paid and disc parking outside and a free Municipio car park holding disabled spaces. The Museo Archeologico del Finale advises checking Trenitalia and TPL Linea for current times, which is sound: it publishes the routes, not the timetable.
Getting between the nuclei is still the practical question. Finalborgo is about a kilometre and a half inland from Finalmarina; the hill frazioni and the Mànie plateau are a drive; Varigotti is further east towards Noli.
And the mountain-bike economy has built its own transport. The record describes Finale as equipped for the sport with trails, resorts, agriturismi, B&Bs and shuttles — which is how most riders reach the top of the Mànie.
